Spalting is a black marbling effect caused by natural fungus in wood that’s been left to rest before processing. This fungus is killed off during the kiln drying but leaves a highly desirable pattern in the finished board. This pattern is unique to each piece and adds a lovely detail.
Locally sourced Yorkshire Oak, kiln dried and handmade in our workshop. Each board is a one of a kind. Finished with STOSH Wax (our food safe blend of beeswax and mineral oil). The reverse side can be used as a plain serving board.
All boards are supplied with care instructions and a small tin of STOSH Wax to help keep your board beautiful.
