The alpine zone, with its stunted trees, amazing plant life and unbeatable views, is far and away one of the most enchanting aspects of the White Mountains. Any time spent hiking on the eastern side of the Presidential Range warrants a visit to the Alpine Garden Trail in order to check out the flowers blooming there, groundwater seeping up through the rocks, and the wide open vistas to the northern peaks of Adams and Madison. It's a place to linger as long as possible.
