Materials: California cedar wood is PEFC certified, guaranteeing sustainable forest management. The wood has been treated with polygleceryl-3 diisostearate which is a coconut derived, non-toxic emulsifier that keeps the woods soft to prevent wood shavings from breaking off into the product. The labelling is water-based ink. The colored end-cap is made of Urethane Acrylate and nitrocellulose and is not biodegradable. Lid is aluminum

End of Life: Because the wood is treated with polygleceryl-3 diisostearate, Elate Cosmetics recommends that the pencil shavings be processed via landfill. However, based on our research on the ingredients, we have no qualms about putting the shavings in our home compost bin as the emulsifier is completely non-toxic and biodegradable. Cap and end of pencil with the colored end cap should be returned to Wake for specialized recycling.
