The Lakes Colheita 11 Year Old Port & Bourbon Barrel Matured English Single Malt Whisky (2020) 70cl

The Whiskymaker’s Editions are exceptional diversions from the usual Lakes Distillery sherry-led house style. These are one-off releases showcasing the sense of adventure in the cask selection, maturation and blending. Colheita (Col-yate-a) means “harvest”, referring to the exclusive use of grapes from a single crop to create a vintage Tawny Port. In this Edition, the Whiskymaker’s cask and maturation expertise brings Colheita Port barrels into the ageing process, in combination with a small proportion of bourbon barrels, extracting the colour and flavour of both to produce this stunning whisky. The nose is vibrant and fruity with hints of plums, spiced pickled cherries and candied orange; the palate is complex with notes of prunes, stewed plums and warming cinnamon with a lasting finish. This Edition is beautifully packaged in a Fenwick exclusive gift set of two glasses and bespoke box.

About The Lakes

Originally founded by Paul Currie, the Lakes Distillery is situated in the Lake District (as the name would suggest) as part of a converted old Victorian cattle farm and it takes its inspiration from the stunning landscape that surrounds it. The technology and hardware are state-of-the-art but the methods are as traditional as always in what they call a “holistic whisky making” process.
