The MAXTRAX Core Shackle is purpose-built to be the central connection point between two MAXTRAX recovery components—specifically engineered for use with the MAXTRAX Winch Ring 120 and other MAXTRAX gear. As part of the integrated MAXTRAX Recovery System, this shackle provides unmatched strength, safety, and compatibility when used in demanding off-road recoveries.
⚠️ Important: The MAXTRAX Recovery System has been tested exclusively with MAXTRAX-branded products. For safety, you must always use a MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle during vehicle recovery as the designated point of controlled failure if the system becomes overloaded.
Inspect for any damage or wear before every use.
Loosen the loop enough to slide it over the knot.
Slide the loop over the knot to prepare it for connection.
Feed the loop through your recovery point or recovery gear, such as:
MAXTRAX Hitch
Kinetic Rope
Static Rope
Winch Rope
Winch Ring
Rated vehicle recovery points
Secure by tightening the loop back over the knot or pushing the knot through, ensuring the loop pulls at a 90° angle from the knot.
Attach a MAXTRAX Recovery Dampener to reduce recoil risk.
Use MAXTRAX Recovery Boards as ramps to reduce stress on equipment.
Ensure all bystanders are at a safe distance.
Begin recovery by slowly taking up the slack in the system.
If the initial attempt fails, retry with slightly more momentum.
Materials: Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) & Polyester
Weight: 180g
Length: 550mm
Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS): 14,000 kg / 30,864 lb
To extend the life and ensure the safe use of your MAXTRAX Recovery System components:
Thoroughly inspect for cuts, frays, burns, abrasion, or damage before and after each use.
Do not use if any damage is present or if the warning label is missing or unreadable.
After use, rinse with clean water and air dry completely.
Store your gear inside a MAXTRAX Recovery Kit Bag to protect it from environmental damage.
Protective sheaths are available for added durability—see our website for replacement options.
The strap or shackle's breaking strength should be 2–3 times the gross vehicle mass (GVM) of the lighter vehicle in the recovery.
Always use rated recovery points and avoid excessive shock loading.
Only use genuine MAXTRAX Recovery System components.
Do not use the strap for lifting or towing.
Avoid using the product when wet, as strength and elasticity may be reduced.
Always use a recovery damper or weight to minimize recoil risk.
Before recovery, all vehicle occupants must:
Exit the vehicles
Stand at a safe distance
Avoid standing within the recovery line’s path
For added safety and confidence, we recommend attending a nationally recognized 4WD recovery training course or consulting your local 4WD club.
