Pomelo is a large Asian citrus fruit that’s closely related to grapefruit.

It’s shaped like a teardrop and has green or yellow flesh and a thick, pale rind. It can grow to the size of a cantaloupe or larger.

Pomelo tastes similar to grapefruit, but it’s sweeter.

It contains several vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that make it a healthy addition to your diet.

The flesh of the red rouge pummelo/pomelo is a deep red colour. 

Appearance:

It’s a large citrus fruit, typically weighing around 1-2kilograms. The rind is pale green or yellow and it’s thicker than the rind of a grapefruit.
The flesh is the most distinctive feature of the Red Rouge pummelo – it’s a beautiful deep red colour, unlike the usual white or yellow flesh of most pummelos.

Taste:

The flesh is sweet and juicy, with a hint of tartness. It’s much less bitter than a grapefruit, and some people say it has a flavour that’s similar to a raspberry or strawberry.

Origin:

The Red Rouge pummelo is a relatively new variety, and it’s exact origin is unknown. It’s believed to have been developed in Southeast Asia, possibly Thailand or Vietnam.

Nutrition:

Red Rouge pummelos are a good source of vitamin C, fibre and potassium. They also contain antioxidants, which can help protect against disease.
