This vintage Native Northwest Moon Mask is a rare and distinctive piece, unlike more modern works. Uniquely unsigned, it uses only the traditional paint colors of red, green, and black. The wood has been varnished to give it a glossy finish, enhancing its vibrant colors.  

What makes this mask especially intriguing is its construction—it is molded from thin strips of cedar rather than carved from a solid block of wood, a technique that makes it unusually thin and light. The motif is believed to represent a “moon” symbol, based on comparisons to similar works in the region. The artist and specific tribe are unknown, adding an element of mystery to this already fascinating piece.  

The mask is in very good vintage condition, with some paint wear in the green areas of the face, though the overall colors remain vibrant. Please refer to the photos, as they are an important part of the description.  

Measurements: Approximately 11 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches deep. A remarkable and collectible example of Native Northwest art with a rich history and unique craftsmanship.
