A modern jet trainer cloaked in the historic armor of the Battle of Britain. This highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast model by Corgi (AA36009) replicates the British Aerospace Hawk T.Mk 1A (XX184), operating with No.19 (Fighter) Squadron out of RAF Chivenor / RAF Valley in April 2008. This exceptional release marks the 70th anniversary of No.19 Squadron's historic status as the very first RAF unit to be equipped with the legendary Supermarine Spitfire at Duxford in 1938. To publicize fundraising and honor their legacy, the squadron received special permission to repaint this fast-jet trainer in the iconic dark green and earth brown camouflage pattern worn by WWII Spitfires during the Battle of Britain, complete with vintage roundels and the prominent yellow tactical number 19 on the tail.
Ideal for curators of heritage liveries and modern RAF fighter history, this Aviation Archive Collector Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact bridging two defining eras of British air power. The model is engineered for exceptional scale accuracy, featuring an intricate tandem canopy that accurately replicates the internal cordite charge wire embedded to shatter the glass during ejection. Complete with optional landing gear subassemblies, rolling rubber tires, and a sleek custom presentation stand that showcases the jet in an elegant in-flight attitude, this premium model offers a sophisticated display presence for collectors prioritizing unique commemorative military provenance.
