About This Wine

Thanks to an exceptional growing season on Howell Mountain, the La Jota 2019 Merlot delivers remarkable concentration paired with elegance and balance. This mountain-grown Merlot showcases rich notes of mocha and black cherry, complemented by flavors of blackberry, blueberry pie, and a distinct volcanic minerality. Sealed with a cork and boasting 14.5% alcohol, it pairs beautifully with leg of lamb, hearty tomato sauces, and grilled vegetables. Cultivated on a volcanic plateau surrounded by diverse forest, the vineyard’s cool, windy climate and decomposed granite soils contribute to the wine’s vibrant fruit and structured tannins. Hand-harvested and carefully sorted, this wine reflects the meticulous craftsmanship of winemaker Chris Carpenter.
