I hiked a ways up the Falling Waters Trail in Franconia Notch to reach Cloudland Falls on a blazingly hot summer day. It got up to about ninety degrees in the valley, but up along the brook it was shady and cool. Almost too cool. After a couple of hours of painting I had to call it a day as my fingers were so stiff and cold I could paint no longer. But the splashing water and light through the trees was mesmerizing and I'm glad I caught just a segment of this gorgeous waterfall.
