Since 1988, when then -- crew chief Robert Yates bought Harry Ranier's team, Robert Yates Racing has become one of the most successful teams in Winston Cup. Prefaced with a chapter covering Yates' career as a crew chief, this retrospective goes on to chronicle Yates' cars and drivers who have found success with them, including Kenny Irwin, Ernie Irvan, the late Davey Allison and Yates' current line-up of Ricky Rudd and Dale Jarrett. Special focus is given to Yates engine shop, which has earned a reputation as one of the best in the business.
