Camino De Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimage routes to the Cathedral Santiago De Compostela in Galicia in the North-West of Spain. Why is this Cathedral so important? It is believed that the Apostle Saint James the Great was buried in the Cathedral of Santiago De Compostela and discovered by a shepherd in the 9th Century. From that point onwards, many have embarked on a pilgrimage to Camino De Santiago. There are 9 different Camino De Santiago Routes on which you can embark on the Way of St. James Pilgrimage. One of these pilgrimage routes is the Camino Del Norte, a fantastic 865 km/ 538 miles long trail following the Northern Coast of Spain. Also known as the Northern Way, the Camino Del Norte Trail starts in Basque Country in the beautiful city of Irun and traverses the Northern Coast to finish in Santiago de Compostela.
