The route starts at the Machame Gate and leads you through the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park along jaw-dropping rainforests, high-alpine deserts, ice fields, and glaciers to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro Uhuru Peak at a mesmerizing 5896m/ 19,341 ft above sea level. The Machame Route distance is approximately 37miles/ 62 km from the Machame Gate to the Mweka Gate. While the route is not a walk in the park, the Machame Route success rate is quite high if you take your time and acclimatize. Even though it will challenge you, the endless impressive views and beautiful surroundings make the climb more than worthwhile!
