The first sound recording by the maestro Takashi Asahina (1908-2001) is now available! This is an excerpt from the concert opera "Fidelio" performed by Asahina and the New Japan Philharmonic in 1984-87, following Wagner's "Ring" with an all-Japanese cast. Akio Jissoji, a prodigy, staged the innovative stage with a huge intre (scaffolding) behind the orchestra that resembled a prison cell.
