A very scarce second, revised edition of John H. Paton's self-published work during the height of his controversy and split from Charles Taze Russell, with whom he had worked as assistant editor and contributor at The Herald of the Morning. Russell also utilized Paton as a contributor to the earliest issues of the Zion's Watch Tower. Paton was also a traveling representative of the Watch Tower and Russell heavily promoted his writings.
The two parted company in 1882, leading to this "clarified" revised edition of Paton's most significant work. He had also been associated with the Adventists. Between his view of Conditional Immortality, his anti-Trinitarian sentiments, and his ultimate reconciliation teachings, he ended up founding his own movement. Excessively rare.
A very good little bio of him HERE.
