This incredible silk maxi-dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli and an identical style, in what appears to be a slightly different print, appeared as Look 44 on the Spring 2005 runway. It is an exaggerated blouson style with a low front which ties at the neck and has a dramatic gathered drop-waist. The coordinating silk tie at the neck is finished with golden beads and delicate pieces of red coral. Gathered cuffs form billowing balloon-sleeves, adding to the whimsical feel. The sheer silk is littered with roses, angel trumpets, strawberries and cherries and is finished with the designer’s signature. The brand’s trademark tiger print mingles with the floral motifs at the bottom of the two-tiered skirt, which is lined from the waist down.

In very good to excellent vintage condition, this piece is two decades old and has some tiny pin prick-size holes that are only noticeable on very close inspection. The designer label was removed or has been lost with the passage of time. The composition label states that this dress was made in Italy and is 100% Silk. The size is labelled as Small. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in (180cm) and this dress was fairly roomy on her so will accommodate several sizes bigger.
