Dating back to the mid 1920s, this swimsuit is woven from a medium weight black stretch wool. It has a chunky ribbed texture with thick woven seams. The straps are thick and support a sports-bra like top. The body is cut from one piece of cloth with a separate piece for the gusset and bra. The bottom of the swimsuit forms shorts. There is a flattering scoop-neck and curved back. A rare survivor from the period just as women had started to gain some freedoms after the war years and tanned skin started to be in vogue. Designing as bathing wear, it was both swimwear and worn as a bodysuit under other layers.
In truly excellent antique condition with no flaws of any note and displays well. Due to its age, it does not have a size or composition label and the fabric has some stretch on the below measurements. I think it should work on size UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
