Every perfect French summer begins with a hat : a simple straw brim, tied with ribbon and absentmindedly set aside at dawn along a sun-warmed garden wall. By midday, it is rescued from the embrace of climbing roses; by afternoon, it sits askew, worn with effortless charm and a hint of mischief.

It drifts through the day as though carried by the breeze : from orchard paths heavy with cherries to picnics laid upon the grass, to croquet games played in dappled shade. And when evening falls, it comes to rest at the foot of the bed, its ribbon still holding the last light of the sun.
