This dramatic Nina Ricci 1980s cocktail dress is silk lined with a black wool crepe overlay and a silk taffeta peplum. The peplum unfolds in soft pleats and graduates in a descending V-shape from the centre reverse at the waist and finishing at the centre front of the skirt at the hem. Pleats are stitched down towards the waistband to flatter the navel, before falling open at the front to reveal the crepe pencil-style underskirt. This showpiece is consolidated perfectly by a large taffeta bow that embellishes the accompanying sash to be worn around the waist. A sharply plunging V neckline on the bodice echoes the form of the skirt, and neatly stitched pleats atop of each shoulder accentuate the puff shoulder detail. This piece is beautifully constructed with ribbon finishing on the hems and cuffs, and interior hook and eye fastenings to further shape the waistline. There is a central zip fastening at the reverse. In superb condition, would best fit US size 2-4, UK size 6-8.
