It's 1949, and Irene Webster is giving these young ladies a sewing lesson. We're not sure where they are, although the book-lined walls suggest a school library or some such place.

Sewing and machining, particularly in the austere post-war years, was an essential life skill, allowing these little ladies to run up natty numbers at home.

Now, let's put the treadle to the metal, mind your fingers, and keep those seams straight.
