When Reza Shah Pahlavi reorganized Iran's court patronage in 1925, the existing late-Qajar gold-scroll medallion vocabulary continued in court ateliers but evolved subtly: borders simplified, the scroll motifs became more graphic and less floral-organic, palettes leaned slightly cooler and more confident. Early-Pahlavi court rugs (~1925–1940) sit visibly between the Qajar past and the modernist mid-20th century.

Distinct from the cohort's late-Qajar gold-scroll anchor in three ways: graphic clarity (Pahlavi borders are cleaner), color confidence (Pahlavi reds and burgundies are deeper and more saturated), and overall posture (Pahlavi reads as declaration rather than as candlelit court display).
