This classic Mauritius stamp features the national coat of arms, divided into four quarters: a ship symbolizing trade, palm trees representing the island’s flora, a key signifying the strategic importance of the colony, and a star above mountains denoting the rising nation. The design is inscribed “POSTAGE REVENUE” at the sides and “MAURITIUS” at the top. Printed in brown, the stamp carries a face value of 2 cents and was part of the definitive coat of arms series issued in the late 19th to early 20th century. These issues are highly collectible for their colonial symbolism and fine engraved detail.
