This is a wonderful Acrostic 'REGARD' ring from the mid-Victorian era - indeed it is fully hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Birmingham and the year 1864. Its multigem petals feature an old mine cut diamond, 2 rubies, an emerald, a garnet, and an amethyst; The first letter of each precious gemstone spells out the word, 'REGARD'.

The gems sit around a central ruby like petals and give this ring its unique romantic quality. The petals are surrounded by wonderful gold bead detail. This detail continues through to the ring's shoulders which feature shell like decroation, leading onto a beautiful 18ct gold band. The band itself is a UK size O 1/2, which is a US 7 1/2 but it is re-sizable.

This style of antique ring would have been given to a loved one as a token of affection, and to demonstrate that the giver held them in high 'regard'.
