Fruit is round but flattened on the bottom and look similar to a small apple. Pick when the whole fruit (or at least 80%) has just turned brownish red. Texture is crisp and light we consider it an excellent fresh or dried variety. Fruit size 35-45mm. Developed at the Chico institute in California, this is an early fruiting variety. Cross pollinate for best results.
Trees are currently 80cms-1m tall in a 10lt bags. This is a grafted tree and please be aware that the tree loses all of its leaves during winter. It is recommended not to water the tree in its deciduous state but give it a good amount of fertiliser coming into spring time and start to water again as the leaves emerge. The trees are in 200ml pots and have an established root system.
Chico is me of the sweetest varieties.
