These rare suede trousers were designed by Yves Saint Laurent for his Fall 1985 collection and walked the runway across four looks in different colour ways including black, grey and purple. Made in France, they are crafted from buttery suede in a dark charcoal grey hue. The label reads “Saint Laurent Rive Gauche”, a reference to Paris’s younger and trendier left bank. They are generously cut with an extreme high-waist and tapered tailoring to the leg. The rear high waist becomes two wide flaps at the front which can be tied as the wearer chooses. Under the flaps, the trousers are secured with a hidden zip, hook-and-eye clasp and tonal button. The fabric is gathered at the waist to create the blouson shape around the hips. There are in-seam pockets at the hips and the trousers are lined with tonal grey satin.

These trousers are in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. The outer fabric is 100% Pig Suede and the lining is 100% Viscose. They are labelled a size 42, UK 14, but these are better suited for up to a UK 10 or US 6 in modern sizing. Please check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch.
