This intricately hand crafted Edwardian jacket dates back to the early 1900s and is a wonderful example of tape or Battenberg lace whereby pieces of tape are bent into the shape required and sewn into position and the gaps are filled in with hand-sewn lace. This jacket has an elongated silhouette and short, slightly flared sleeves. The hemlines follow the swirling lines and patterns in the lace. This wonderfully preserved piece of history would make a beautiful and lightweight cover-up over a piece of evening-wear or a corset top. There are no fastenings and jacket is open style.

This cover up is in fantastic antique condition, particularly for a piece of over 120 years of age. Please note that there are a tiny handful of break in the 'brides' in the lace work otherwise she is structurally very sound and wearable. The garment is unlabelled so please check the measurements below carefully. The fabric has no stretch. I think she can be worn by all sizes up to a UK 12 or US 8. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 31" (80cm), Waist: 25" (64cm), Hips: 34" (87cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm) and she's a size UK 6, US 2. This looked great on her with some room to spare.
